Alvium Camera Series: Embedded Vision with Industrial Machine Vision Benefits
Embedded system designers now have a camera module option that brings the benefits of industrial machine vision via the innovative Alvium Camera Series.  Alvium is based on an innovative platform that delivers a full range of digital cameras capable of serving both industrial and embedded vision applications.  The heart of Alvium is the unique ALVIUM® Technology.  ALVIUM® Technology is a proprietary application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) with an integrated image signal processor (IPS) designed by Allied Vision.  It is combined with a comprehensive image processing library (IPL) optimizing it for advanced digital imaging.  ALVIUM® Technology completes image correction and optimization processing in the camera, which frees CPU capacity on the host board for alternative processing tasks.

Furthermore, Alvium simplifies system integration in two ways. First, Alvium is available in three housing options: bare board, open housing and closed housing.  System designers can select the housing option that best meets their space requirements.  Second, only one driver for each host platform is needed to operate all Alvium camera models.  Alvium will support various embedded boards, beginning with the NXP i.MX6/8 and NVIDIA Jetson platforms.  Future support will extend to the i.MX8, i.MX8M and NVIDIA Jetson AGX Xavier platforms.  Alvium cameras can be controlled via Video4Linux, GStreamer, Direct Register Access and GenICam.

The design of the ALVIUM® Technology ASIC enables it to support all common sensor interfaces, allowing for quick integration of current and future sensors.  Sensor resolutions ranging from VGA to 21 Megapixels will be available among the Alvium camera series.  Designers/integrators can choose between MIPI CSI-2 and USB3 Vision interfaces.  The first two Alvium camera models to be made available are the 1500 Series and 1800 Series:

Goldeye SWIR Cameras: Great for LiDAR Laser Profiling
Goldeye SWIR cameras use InGaAs sensor technology which is sensitive in the short-wave infrared spectrum of 900 to 1,700 nm.  Its compact, ruggedized housing of 55mm x 55mm x 78 mm and numerous features, such as integrated thermo-electric sensor cooling, on-board image correction and comprehensive I/O control opinions, make the Goldeye an ideal camera for LiDAR laser profiling (typical wavelength range of 905-1,550 nm).  Goldeye SWIR cameras offer three models available with either GigE or Camera Link interfaces: Goldeye G/CL-008 TEC1 (320 x 256 resolution, 344 frames per second), Goldeye G/CL-032 TEC1 (0.3 Megapixel resolution, 100 frames per second), and Goldeye G/CL-033 TEC1 (0.3 Megapixel resolution, 301 frames per second).  The Goldeye G-033 model is also available in a TECless variant.
